Hey there, welcome to my blog! If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably danced around the idea of getting in shape more times than you care to admit. Today, we’re diving into a concept that I am practicing daily that will transform the way you approach your health journey.
You’re juggling work, family, friends, hobbies, and about a million other things, all while trying to squeeze in sessions of workouts and meal preps. Sound familiar? Yeah, I’ve been there, done that… many times in fact.
A guiding principle that could untangle the mess and lead you straight to your fitness goals? Enter “The One Thing” by Gary Keller.
Keller’s book isn’t some mystical, secret-society handbook (though that would be pretty cool). It’s a practical guide to prioritization, honing in on the one thing that matters most in any aspect of your life.
So, how does this apply to your fitness journey? Well, let’s break it down.
In a world where we’re bombarded with fad diets (such as fasting and One-Meal-A-Day), trendy workouts, and conflicting advice, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters: consistency. Yep, you heard me right. Consistency is the name of the game when it comes to getting fit and staying that way.
But here’s the kicker: consistency doesn’t just happen. It’s a result of laser-like focus on one key priority. It’s about identifying the one thing that, if done consistently, will move the needle on your fitness goals. You may also think that you need discipline in order to achieve your goals. Nope. Discipline is a myth.
“You are what you love the most” – Charles Poliquin
Maybe it’s committing to workout three times a week, or swapping out those sugary snacks for some nuts or fruits. Whatever it is, the key is to zero in on that one thing and make it non-negotiable.
We live in a world of multitasking superheroes, where the ability to juggle a million things at once is practically a badge of honor. But here’s the truth: multitasking is overrated, especially when it comes to your health. Doing many things at the same time doesn’t make you a bad person, but it’s not optimal, and in my experience, you’re going no where in life with it.
By spreading yourself too thin, you’re diluting your efforts and setting yourself up for burnout. But by channeling all your energy into that one thing, you’re not only setting yourself up for success, but you’re also creating a sustainable, long-term approach to fitness.
So, I challenge you to embrace the power of “The One Thing” in your fitness journey. Identify that one priority, focus like a laser beam, and watch as your goals become reality.
Here’s to sweating smarter, not harder, and becoming the healthiest, happiest version of yourself. Let’s do this!
